In Honor Of 9/11

9/11

The anniversary of 9/11 is here. 10 years. A decade of pain. Evil came to the heart of the United States and touched our soil. Most of us never expected something like this to ever happen. Our fellow Americans killed by an evil we couldn’t fathom.

As I am writing this I have hot, angry tears stinging my eyes. That was such a horrific day. I was at work when it happened and didn’t understand the magnitude of it. I didn’t truly understand what had happened until that evening when I saw it on the news. A dear friend called me and talked to me for hours as we watched the news. He lived about an hour away but we had the same news station. We watched together and were just horrified. He had seen it all day and knew I hadn’t had access to it. I remember just being dumbstruck. I couldn’t stop watching the footage. I was mesmerized in a horrible way. I was in agony for my fellow Americans.

To the families and survivors I hope you know that you have so much love from the world. We hurt for all the tragedy you went through. There are no words that can express how we feel for you and we know there is nothing to explain how you feel. I hope you know our hearts ache for you still. I have lost people before but to lose someone this way has got to be so much worse. And I still ache for the ones I lost so I can only empathize and hope that knowing we hurt for you is some comfort.

I know we can’t speak to the dead, but if there was a way to send a message to the victims I would love to tell them that you weren’t forgotten and the evil bastard who planned the attacks is finally dead! And he did not die a peaceful death either. Osama bin Laden was killed as punishment for his evil acts. He can no longer hurt anyone else. You have been avenged!

God bless the USA!
