the ups and downs of life

I’m in a Time Out!

Because I want to be! And because I need to be! The stress of the last few weeks has just caught up with me. So my phone is off. I am not talking to anyone on Monday. I’m sorry, but if something happens people will have to leave me a voicemail. I just have to take care of Amy. Nobody else will. I have found that out.

I had someone say something the other day that really pointed out to me that. I told them I couldn’t do something and they told me that a few other people couldn’t do it because they had family obligations. They didn’t come right out and say it, but the implication was that because I don’t have a family that my time wasn’t valuable. Well, it is. And because of that, I have had to resort to turning my phone off on my off time in order to take care of my business. If I don’t, people call and request me to take care of what they should be handling. Then I get catty remarks because people can’t reach me immediately. I am like, “I do have to sleep sometime!” and “I do have things to do!”

I usually am helpful to others but I have finally learned that I have to put myself first more. And it isn’t selfish, as others have tried to tell me. I figure those people are trying to pull a guilt trip so that I will do their bidding. Sorry, I finally figured it out! I got their number now. I just hate the manipulation that others try to do. I don’t get it.

Do you have this type of people in your life?
