Reality TV That Struck A Chord
I know many of us watch reality tv and think how crazy it is. Today I watched the first portion of the reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It seems odd to even think I had anything in common with those wild women. I cried as they replayed the breakdown that Taylor Armstrong went through and when she talked about her abuse.
It just shows you that people of all economic levels go through this. Abuse knows no boundary it seems. I know a lot of people think badly of her and doubt her. People who don’t understand abuse can’t understand it. I hope, though, that they can have compassion and care for the people who have encountered this and had to deal with it.
I don’t know the whole Taylor and Russell Armstrong story. But I know that love can be powerful and it can take a sharp turn in the wrong direction. I just hope that people realize that yelling abusive words at someone and calling them names is abuse. Hitting someone is abuse. Doing things which makes someone fearful is abusive. Just because this is being discussed on reality tv doesn’t mean that it isn’t reality for many. It is. It’s sad and scary.
