This morning I was on Facebook. I wanted to tell a friend “Happy Birthday” and rag on a few friends for the Iron Bowl. (I’m rooting for Auburn, btw!) So I looked over on the sidebar and there it was. My ex’s name. Facebook was suggesting that we become friends. Hmmm…I thought that was interesting. Thanks, Facebook. Appreciate that.
After I got over the initial moment of being caught off guard, I kind of laughed. It was semi-funny. Not a true laugh out loud funny moment, but more like one of those smile with a corner of your mouth and shake your head kind. It was a moment where you were glad you didn’t really have to deal with it because it was something that was uncomfortable and weird.
Facebook really irritates me with all of its suggestions. I wonder who the heck decides on these suggestions or the parameters for suggestions anyway. Whoever it is needs some more training for their job. A few months ago it told me I was old and now it says I need to be friends with my ex. Facebook needs to learn that before it makes suggestions for someone’s life that it should learn more about them.
