I Have A Mocking Cat

Soleil the Silly Cat

My Mocking Cat

Yes, you read it correctly. I have a mocking cat. When I make sounds other than talking, she tries to imitate me. It is hilarious. The reason I even thought to post this is because of what happened just a moment ago. I was looking something up online and she was sitting beside me on the bed. She is also a nosy cat and was watching the screen. I had a slight tickle in my throat so I did a little cough. I heard her do one. So I coughed again to see what would happen. She coughed again. So I looked her in the eye and coughed and she made the noise again. I burst out laughing and then she looked at me as if I had suddenly grown a second head.  This isn’t the first time she has done this. If I sneeze she does a fake sneeze. She is so cute. If I had a significant other, I would get him to catch this because anytime I move she runs. Soleil and I would be YouTube sensations! And what is so precious is that it isn’t a game for her. She is very concerned and that is why she is doing it. She is making sure you are ok and that is her way of showing concern. God bless my sensitive cat! Chloe gives a toss of her head, makes a raspberry sound while swishing her tail and walks away. Her only concern is that there better be Friskies Grillers in her bowl!

Cat Craziness

Soleil

There has been recent cat craziness at my house again. And stop with the crazy cat lady jokes. You have to have more than two cats to officially be a crazy cat lady. I only have two. So now that we have that straight we can progress. I was in bed the other day and was so exhausted. I hear this loud thump. I nearly jumped out of my skin. I wasn’t expecting noises. I look over and there is Soleil standing on top of the chest of drawers (in Southern speak: chester drawers). Then there was the obligatory and extremely loud MEOW! (Yes, Soleil is s a screamer.) So I figured she would lay down and settle in. Then I heard another thump. I looked and didn’t see her. Then something caught my eye. It seems I left the bi-fold closet doors open and guess who was standing on top of the closet doors. Soleil! And yes, on top. Just standing there. “Hey Mom! How ya doin?” I nearly fell over. I knew she was going to freak out getting down. So I made her get down. She is such a mess. And I don’t understand this whole mess. I don’t get the reason for getting up there or how she did. Let’s just say Soleil is not a light weight kitty cat. So the physics of this feat are beyond me. I wish I had had my camera. It was hilarious. Anyone else’s cats do this kind of stuff?

My Cats ARE Like Kids

There are some people who want to believe I am the crazy cat lady because I feel my cats have humanistic characteristics. They have either never had cats or never been around them. My cats are like kids. They behave very much like them. I know they’re not human. But let me tell you, they sure can behave a lot like humans!

Both of my cats have distinct personalities. Chloe is independent and self-reliant. She only wants you when she needs something that she can’t get on her own. Chloe is so independent that she doesn’t meow like most cats. No, my cat barks. Yes, you read that right. She barks. It’s this funny meh meh meh sound but it is definitely not meowing. Soleil on the other hand is a clingy, attention-seeking personality. She needs me to love on her constantly to feel loved. She is a “talker” and will meow quite loudly if she is not getting the attention she feels she deserves or needs.

I have been waking up to find my glasses on the floor beside the bed. I thought I was knocking them off in my sleep. I found out this morning that is not the case. The way I found out was the I didn’t jump when Soleil wanted me to and so she meowed by my head for about a minute. When I didn’t stir she moved to the table and she knocked them off. It was as if she was saying, “Ha! I’ll show you!” That didn’t set too well with me, but I did get up. I was awake at that point.

So whether you like cats or not, they are like kids. Their behaviors are quite similar. It may not always be pleasant, but they are cute. And I do love them. And I am not the crazy cat lady! I only have 2 bratty cats and realize I do not really want or need anymore.
