No One Likes Pieces Left Behind
I was reading on of my favorite bloggers the other day over at http://thejackieblog.com/ and she wrote about the happy commercialization of menstruation. It was comical because in the same week another blogger had pretty much written about the same thing. I laughed.
But here’s what gets me…why do people who dream up these commercials think that some of this stuff is ok? One thing in particular I am thinking about is the Charmin toilet paper ads. The bears with bits of TP stuck to their furry butts. First, they’re bears. I think if they did wipe it would be with leaves. They live in a forest and don’t have jobs. Shopping for expensive toilet paper would be really hard. Another issue I have with these commercials is the fact that we’re giving these bears humanistic qualities. So doesn’t this mean they should be wearing clothes? Instead, you see basically naked bears walking around with TP stuck to their butts. Maybe the advertisers thought this was cute. I think it is stupid and promotes a nudist lifestyle.
So, any commercials out there that irk you?
