the ups and downs of life

Accusations

Recently I had to provide information to someone via email. It was just an update. And rather than ask exactly what happened I got a response back in capital letters and the text color changed to red on purpose stating that I should have done something. I had stated in the original email what the end result was, which the person receiving the message knows means that I had to take specific procedures. So I was rather angry that they were accusing me of not doing what I was supposed to do. I just don’t get why instead of coming across as finger-pointing people don’t simply ask, “So this means you did this and that?” It is so much more less inflammatory. It really set the tone for my day. I was pissed off. I try to take the approach of asking instead of accusing no matter who I am dealing with because it just makes all dealings much better. Do you ever have this issue?

  1. Yes. Actually, it is my husband that gets this most because he handles the bills online, as well as questioning companies about why they do some of the things they do. If you try to screw with him on business issues and he knows he is right, heaven help you. He spares you nothing.

    • When I know something for sure, I light into someone. But if I don’t know something absolutely, I ask questions. I just feel that is the best way to deal with people. Then when you do know it, RIP if you have to. For instance, when I had to deal with AT&T about my internet, I had spent about 4 hours on the phone with them in 2 days time. I had been transferred all over the place. I finally lost it and told them I was tired of the incompetence and the bullshit. I had enough and I wanted a resolution immediately. Boy did that get some attention. LOL I got resolution and money refunded. I hate having to pitch fits, but I will if I have to.
