Today is National Junk Food Day!

Can you believe it has its own day? Pretty interesting. Junk food is great. I got to wondering, though, what exactly makes a food junk food? Is it convenient food? Is it food that is bad for you? What is the criteria for junk food? I had to find out. According to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ the definition of junk food is the following:

1: food that is high in calories but low in nutritional content

2: something that is appealing or enjoyable but of little or no real value

Well, now we’re in business! I know what it officially is! I can figure out what my favorite kind is now. So let’s see, I love milk shakes, banana splits, zebra cakes from Little Debbie‘s, banana Moon Pies, french fries (crinkle cut are my faves), banana pudding, banana split blizzard from Dairy Queen, hamburgers, and so many more.

I wish “real” food tasted as good as junk food does! Wouldn’t it be nice if broccoli tasted like chocolate? I would definitely eat more broccoli! But maybe that is the point. Junk food tastes great but we are only supposed to have it once in a while. I need to quit eating so much of it. It’s hard, though. And I think it is especially hard if you are single because it is a whole lot easier to stop and pick up something for dinner than it is to fix a meal for one. Fixing a meal for one seems to be a lot of effort for very little results.

My Cats Confuse Me

I love my cats. I think they’re the best things in the world. But they confuse me. Some of their behaviors are odd. Maybe the things they do are just them or maybe other cats do them. I don’t know.

Chloe is my tortoise-shell calico. She is so adorable! I just want to love on her all the time. She won’t let me. She’ll tease me and act like she may let me touch her and then will run away. She is quite coquettish. Another thing she does is bark. Yes, she is a cat. She doesn’t meow. She makes this noise that is more like a bark. Kind of like, “Meh meh meh!” It seems to mean, “Hey! Look at me!” She also does these twitters and chirpy noises. It is so cute. She is also quite small compared to other cats I have seen. She only weighs 8 lbs. Her weirdest thing is to lick plastic grocery bags. This is something I don’t get at all. I have to watch when she is around them to make sure she isn’t eating them. But the licking of the bags is weird.

Soleil is my blonde tabby. She is so sweet and loving. She is mellow for the most part. Every now and then she takes off running through the house for no reason and goes nuts. She runs up and down the stairs. She is easy-going but one thing she does that drives me nuts is grooms me. I don’t mean just licking my arm here and there. No. It’s like a compulsion she has. And she gets almost painful with it. I try to cover my arm up and she’ll go wherever I move it unless I put it under covers.

I love these girls. They make me smile when no one can. But some of their behaviors make me shake my head in confusion.
